Kynren, an epic open-air show that brings 2,000 years of British history to life, has partnered with sustainable wholesale supplier Everdurance to make a meaningful environmental shift for its 2025 season by replacing single-use plastic bottles with fully recyclable carton water.
With audiences of up to 8,000 per performance and tens of thousands expected this summer, Kynren is showing how even large-scale events can lead with purpose. The partnership with Everdurance marks a significant move in the live entertainment industry, proving that sustainability and spectacle can go hand in hand.
Over the course of nine performances, Kynren will introduce carton water – available to purchase on site – in place of plastic bottles. It’s a simple but conscious step that reinforces a powerful message: small changes, when adopted at scale, create big impact.
“At Kynren, we’re committed to delivering unforgettable live experiences while treading more lightly on the planet,” said Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren. “Our partnership with Everdurance is part of a wider move towards more sustainable practices across our event – from waste reduction to energy efficiency. Making the switch to carton water helps us cut down on single-use plastic and sends a message that every choice counts.”
The collaboration also represents a broader goal for Everdurance – to support sustainable change across diverse industries. From schools and workplaces to festivals and public attractions, the company is helping organisations rethink how they hydrate, serve, and package responsibly.
“Partnering with Kynren is incredibly special to us,” says Callum Mather, Founder of Everdurance. “It’s not just about supplying water; it’s about being part of something bigger. Kynren is a household name in the North, and by choosing to adopt sustainable practices, they’re setting a powerful example. It shows that small, thoughtful changes can have a massive impact when embraced at scale.”
Staged in Bishop Auckland by the charity 11Arches, Kynren is a unique cultural event that brings 2,000 years of British history vividly to life. With a cast and crew of over 1,000 volunteers, the show combines epic storytelling with world-class production values in a breathtaking outdoor setting. This year’s performances run from Saturday 19 July to Saturday 13 September 2025.
Carton water will be available to purchase by all guests across the 2025 season, contributing to a more thoughtful, more sustainable experience – without losing any of the magic.
