Construction has now begun on one of most ambitious features of Kynren – The Storied Lands, the major new live action attraction scheduled to open in July 2026.
Work is under way on the Lost Feather arena, an ambitious 3,600 seat structure that will become the iconic home of one of the historical attraction’s most talked about new shows.

Shaped to resemble a vast Eagle’s nest, the arena uses interwoven timber logs instead of twig to create the sweeping outer form.
When complete, the arena will include lakeside staging and a hillside performance space where key scenes will unfold and nature reclaims the landscape from mankind.

The Lost Feather will feature more than 300 birds in free flight, with every species demonstrating only natural behaviours.
The production, which blends theatre with conservation, will explore the complex relationship between people and the natural world and will feature species such as vultures, eagles, African crown cranes, storks, parrots, pelicans and owls, amongst others.

“The arena has moved from drawings to foundations and now to a visible structure on the landscape,” said Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren.
“It is one of the most exciting steps we have taken so far. The Lost Feather will set a new benchmark for how birds can be presented in a live environment, with welfare and trust at the centre of everything we do,” she added.
The show is being developed by Kynren’s artistic team under the guidance of Jimmy Robinson, Curator of Birds and Conservation, and Assistant Curator Andy Hallsworth, both known for their pioneering work in avian welfare and free flying displays.

The Lost Feather will open as part of Phase One of The Storied Lands in 2026, alongside new live action shows covering medieval history, Viking storytelling and Victorian adventure.
The wider 150-acre site continues to be developed with a focus on environmental sensitivity and wildlife habitat, building on the success of Kynren’s existing evening spectacular.
