Kynren – The Storied Lands marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

Building on the success of Kynren – An Epic Tale of England the award-winning night show, Kynren – The Storied Lands will open in summer 2026, as the UK’s first live-action show park — a spectacular daytime experience where visitors explore immersive environments and watch legends come to life through monumental live performances.

Set within the wider Kynren Park, against the dramatic backdrop of Auckland Palace and the surrounding countryside, the attraction combines epic storytelling, cinematic music, breathtaking stunts, extraordinary animals and large-scale sets to create a visitor experience unlike anything else in the UK.

What to Expect in 2026

The first phase of Kynren – The Storied Lands will introduce five major shows and immersive experiences, each set within beautifully designed environments inspired by history, myth and legend.

Visitors will journey through time across the park, exploring different historical settings before taking their seats for spectacular live performances.

The Lost Feather

A breathtaking live spectacle where birds fill the sky above you, soaring through a living landscape of water, mist and light within a dramatic nest-inspired arena.

Featuring over 250 birds in free flight, the show celebrates humanity’s connection with nature while sharing a powerful conservation message about protecting the world they depend on.

Land of the Vikings

Step into a Viking settlement on the edge of change. Discover traditional crafts, meet warriors preparing for conflict and feel the tension rising — before taking your seat for a high-energy live-action Viking spectacle where shields clash, fire rages and loyalties are tested.

Legend of the Wear

A vast lake becomes the stage for a dramatic retelling of the Lambton Worm legend.

Water erupts, chaos unfolds and a mysterious force moves beneath the surface in a visually spectacular show inspired by the River Wear and North East folklore.

The Trusty Steed

A powerful equestrian spectacle that blends emotional storytelling with world-class horsemanship, daring stunts and cinematic scale.

Set in a medieval world shaped by power, injustice and courage, this dramatic arena show follows a young woman whose life is torn apart — and the extraordinary bond she forges with a wild horse that will change her destiny forever.

With stunning horses, elite trick riders and fearless physical performance, this is a story of resilience, trust and quiet defiance, brought to life in a thrilling love arena.

Victorian Imaginariums

Enter a Victorian library where imagination has escaped from the pages. As you wander through an outdoor storytelling maze, you’ll encounter curious characters, inventive minds and theatrical surprises inspired by the wonder and creativity of the Victorian age.

Victorian Village Preview in 2026

The full Flambards Victorian Village is not part of the 2026 opening and is planned for a future phase (currently targeted for 2027, subject to planning approval).

However, visitors in 2026 will still be able to enjoy a special Victorian preview within the park.

This will include Birch & Birch, the first shop originally installed in Cornwall’s Flambards Victorian Village — a richly detailed general store featuring marble and mahogany counters, traditional display shelving, coffee grinders, cheese cutters, historic shop fittings and authentic period packaging and goods.

Originally located in Angel Court, London, Birch & Birch was a bakers, confectioners and purveyors of high-class provisions, offering visitors an evocative glimpse into Victorian retail life.

Presented as part of the Victorian Imaginariums experience, the shop will provide an early taste of the much larger Victorian Village still to come.

The Night Show Continues

Alongside the new daytime park, the internationally acclaimed Kynren – An Epic Tale of England will continue on Saturday nights throughout the summer season.

Performed by a 1,000-strong volunteer cast and crew on a vast outdoor stage, the night show remains one of the UK’s most spectacular live experiences, taking audiences on an unforgettable journey through 2,000 years of history, myth and legend.

Together, the daytime park and night-time spectacular create a unique full-day and evening destination for visitors.

Looking Ahead — Future Development

Kynren – The Storied Lands has been designed as a long-term, evolving destination, with additional experiences planned in future phases beyond the initial 2026 opening.

One of the most significant future additions will be the highly anticipated Victorian Village, currently planned to open in 2027, subject to planning approval.

The historic Victorian streets and buildings have been carefully relocated from the renowned Flambards collection in Cornwall. The process of dismantling, cataloguing and transporting the structures took many months, and the team is now working on designs for their permanent new home at Kynren.

Once complete, the Victorian Village — with its 40 sets and scenes — will become a richly detailed immersive town featuring shops, experiences and theatrical storytelling that bring the sights, sounds and stories of the 19th century vividly to life. Rather than a traditional museum environment, the village will form part of a dynamic, story-led experience where visitors encounter characters, performances, and unfolding narratives as they explore.

Birch & Birch from Flambard’s Victorian Village will be reimagined as an immersive experience within Kynren – The Storied Lands

Further landmark productions are planned as part of future phases of development. These include:

    • The Lone Centurion — a dramatic Roman-era spectacle exploring the power, conflict and legacy of Roman Britain.

    • Tales of the Tudors — a vibrant theatrical experience set during one of England’s most fascinating historical periods, filled with intrigue, pageantry and drama.

    • Conquest of the Seas — an epic maritime adventure celebrating Britain’s seafaring heritage through large-scale action and storytelling.

    • Legendary stories such as Excalibur and Robin Hood also form part of the long-term creative vision, ensuring the park continues to grow and offer new reasons for visitors to return.

As each new phase is introduced over the coming years, Kynren – The Storied Lands will continue to expand as one of the UK’s most ambitious cultural destinations.
