Some of the world’s most influential travel writers and editors became the first guests to experience one of the flagship productions from Kynren – The Storied Lands this week as the North East welcomed more than 200 travel industry professionals for the prestigious Media Getaway event.

Representatives from leading titles including Lonely Planet, BBC, Condé Nast Traveller, National Geographic Traveller and The Sun travelled to Bishop Auckland on Tuesday evening for an exclusive preview of The Lost Feather, one of the spectacular new experiences opening when Kynren – The Storied Lands launches on 18th July.
The special event marked the first public performance of the groundbreaking production inside its striking eagle’s nest-inspired arena and represented an important milestone for the UK’s first live action show park.
Hosted by Travel Connection Group as part of the three day Media Getaway event, delegates were welcomed to Kynren by Vikings and Romans on horsebsck before gathering for a group photograph in front of the iconic Kynren bus.

Guests were then escorted to The Lost Feather, where they witnessed the premiere performance of the spectacular new production, which features more than 100 birds including eagles, hawks, owls, vultures, macaws and cranes in flight and explores humanity’s relationship with the natural world and the importance of conservation.
Following the show, guests enjoyed a Time Travellers Feast and immersive evening experience, in the company of King Henry VIII, marauding Vikings and Victorian characters, offering a taste of the storytelling and hospitality visitors can expect when they visit Kynren’s evening summer shows.

Media Getaway, organised by Travel Connection Group and hosted this year by Experience North East England, is regarded as one of the UK’s leading travel media networking events and has brought more than 200 journalists, editors, PR professionals and destination representatives to the region.
Howard Salinger, Managing Director of Travel Connection Group, said: “Media Getaway exists to connect destinations and travel brands with the people who inspire millions of travellers through their writing and content.
“To be able to offer our delegates this exclusive first look at The Lost Feather and experience the warmth, creativity and hospitality that Kynren delivers has been something very special.
“The North East has an extraordinary tourism story to tell and Kynren – The Storied Lands represents a remarkable addition to the region’s visitor offer.”
“It was an emotional moment for myself and the entire team to welcome some of the most respected names in travel media to Kynren and to share with them the first ever performance of The Lost Feather,” said Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren.

“As we move closer to opening day, moments like this are incredibly important in helping introduce Kynren – The Storied Lands to new audiences and showcasing the quality and ambition behind the experience.
“The support of the travel industry means the world to us and we hope our guests left with wonderful memories and a real sense of excitement about what is to come.”
Opening on 18th July, Kynren – The Storied Lands will feature five spectacular live shows and immersive experiences inspired by history, myth and legend, operating alongside the award-winning evening production z.

Together they will create one of the UK’s most distinctive visitor experiences and further strengthen the North East’s growing reputation as a major cultural and tourism destination.
