Crowds flocked to Kynren on Saturday night for the return of the North East’s biggest and most breathtaking fireworks display – the annual Pyromusical, which this year took on a decidedly spooky twist to celebrate Halloween weekend.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Kynren’s lakeside stage in Bishop Auckland, the show blended dazzling pyrotechnic effects, lighting and sound in a spine-tingling celebration of music and fire.

Bumper crowds gathered to watch as the colourful fireworks launched into the night sky perfectly in time to a haunting soundtrack of Halloween classics and cinematic favourites.
This year’s theme brought a host of eerie surprises across the Kynren site, with a headless horseman galloping through the darkness, barrowfuls of pumpkins lighting the way, and a ghostly train station complete with spectral travellers and fog-filled platforms.

Families enjoyed a series of spooky spectacles before the main show began, enjoying seasonal food, drinks and live entertainment that kept the Halloween spirit alive throughout the evening.
“The Pyromusical is a real highlight in our calendar, and this year’s Halloween theme made it even more spectacular,” said Kynren’s CEO Anna Warnecke.
“Seeing families and friends gathered together enjoying the atmosphere and the fireworks was wonderful, it’s the perfect way to bring our season to a close,” she added.
The Pyromusical, created and produced by the team behind Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, has become one of the region’s most anticipated autumn events, drawing visitors from across County Durham and beyond.
