Kynren Returns with Spectacular New Show and Launch of UK’s First Live-Action Historical Theme Park

Published November 5, 2025

Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, the UK’s biggest live action outdoor theatre production, is set to return next summer with its legendary night show – and tickets are on sale now.

Audiences can expect a dazzling blend of mass choreography, combat, horsemanship, stunts and pyrotechnics on a seven-and-a-half-acre stage — the size of five football pitches — brought to life by a thousand-strong volunteer cast and crew in front of an 8,000-seat grandstand in Bishop Auckland.

At its heart is a family-friendly journey through 2,000 years of history, myth and legend, from Boudicca’s rebellion to Viking invasions, Norman conquests, Tudor drama and Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.

Horses, donkeys, sheep, goats — and a gaggle of famously scene-stealing geese — add to the magic.

The 90-minute spectacular begins at sunset and ends in starlight, running every Saturday evening between 18 July and 12 September 2026, with tickets priced from £30 for adults and £20 for under-18s.

Children aged three and under go free when seated on an adult’s knee.

Visitors booking now will also unlock a free Insider Pass, guaranteeing priority access to tickets for Kynren – The Storied Lands, a new daytime historical theme park opening in summer 2026.

Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren – The Storied Lands, said: “2026 is going to be an unforgettable year.

“Not only will our award-winning night show return, but we’ll also open Kynren – The Storied Lands — a unique new experience that brings history, heritage and myth to life on a scale not seen anywhere else in the UK.”

Unlike conventional theme parks, Kynren – The Storied Lands will immerse visitors in multiple live shows and experiences that span millennia.

Phase One of Kynren – The Storied Lands will debut with The Lost Feather and four other spectacular live-action shows and immersive experiences — including Fina, a Medieval horse spectacular, an epic new Viking show, and a Victorian Adventure featuring larger-than-life characters from the past.

The Legend of the Wear will transform a vast lake into the stage for the Lambton Worm myth, brought to life with daring water stunts and stunning special effects.

Future phases will expand the park even further, with new shows, educational content, and themed experiences inspired by legendary tales such as Robin Hood, Excalibur, and the Tudors.

Together, they form the UK’s first live-action historical theme park — a world-class destination set to draw visitors nationally and internationally, while boosting the North East economy.

Kynren has already generated more than £65m for the North East economy. With the launch of The Storied Lands, its impact — culturally, economically and internationally — is set to grow even further. For more information and to secure tickets for the most talked-about live show in 2026 click here.
