Kynren’s Freya Askew Reaches Final of Rising Star of the Year

Published November 6, 2025

Kynren’s Marketing Coordinator, Freya Askew, has been named as a finalist for the prestigious Rising Star of the Year award at the 2025 North East Marketing Awards.

The awards celebrate excellence across marketing, digital and PR in the region, and Freya’s shortlisting recognises her creativity, enthusiasm and achievements since joining the 11Arches marketing team in 2023.

Since joining Kynren just under two years ago, Freya has helped deliver high-impact projects, including the 2025 campaign Kynren – An Epic Tale of England and the launch announcement of Kynren – The Storied Lands, the new time-travelling theme park set to open in 2026.

Freya has been instrumental in coordinating marketing activity across departments, ensuring everything from social media content to press materials reflects the creativity, authenticity and community spirit that Kynren is known for.

“Freya’s energy, professionalism and creativity have made a real impact in a very short time,” said Kynren Chief Executive Anna Warnecke.

“She approaches every challenge with enthusiasm and a determination to learn, which is inspiring for everyone around her.

“Her nomination as a Rising Star is thoroughly deserved, and we’re incredibly proud to see her talent recognised by the wider marketing community,” she added.

Originally from the North East, Freya graduated with a first-class degree in English Literature and History of Art from the University of York. Her passion for storytelling, both written and visual, has been central to her success in Kynren’s marketing team.

“No two days at Kynren are ever the same – that’s what I love about it,” said Freya.

“I’ve learned so much, from helping to build a new website and setting up email marketing platforms to working with ITV and the BBC on shoots with The One Show and Sara Davies.

“Being part of something that celebrates our region’s history and creativity is such a privilege,” she added.

“The creativity, scale and purpose behind Kynren are what drew me here in the first place.

“Seeing the excitement around Kynren – The Storied Lands grow has been amazing and I’m so proud to be part of a team that’s helping shape something so positive for the region,” she added.

The Rising Star of the Year category celebrates young professionals making a measurable impact early in their careers.

Winners will be announced at the North East Marketing Awards ceremony on Thursday, 4th December at the Vertu Motors Arena, Newcastle.
